Kate Ackermann
Kate has made a career and life of seeking out beauty in the world around her. She was raised in Massachusetts, where she formed her deep love of all things New England and an appreciation for the early architecture and simple design of some of this country’s earliest-formed towns & communities. A well-built stone wall is high on her list of favorite things, along with wood clapboard houses and shingle rooves.
An Art & Art History major in college, Kate lived in Italy for a semester where she continued to quench her thirst for art & architecture. After graduation, Kate moved to NYC where she worked in the fashion industry for almost 20 years for companies like Ralph Lauren, kate spade, Lilly Pulitzer and Boast. Her areas of focus were international business & branding and product design & development. It was through her career in fashion that she honed her eye for color, for a love of design and of the unexpected, for some humor in the mix, for ease, for a mix of old-and-new, for diversity of style and for appreciation of comfort and function.
Bringing beauty & creativity to life is what Design is all about, in all its forms, and what home design can be as well. A well-functioning home is a pleasure, but a well-functioning home that takes your breath away- now that’s a place you want to live every single day. Kate believes everyone at every budget deserves the opportunity to live in a home like that, and will help them reach those goals, small or large.
